Indian police on Tuesday used tear gas and detained some farmers who tried to break barricades to demand guaranteed crop prices in a repeat of 2021 protests, when they camped on New Delhi's outskirts for over a year. Police dropped tear gas canisters over the protesting farmers from a drone at one of the border points that leads to New Delhi, where tens of thousands of farmers are headed on tractors and trucks. Farmers are seeking a Minimum Support Price (MSP) from the central government covering all farm produce. They are also pressing the government to meet its promise to double their income Subscribe to the Evening Standard: https://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Evening-Standard for latest breaking news from the UK, US and around the world, plus podcasts and features.
