Rishi Sunak denies 'favouritism' allegations as levelling up funding is announced

Rishi Sunak has defended the decision to give £19million of the Government’s new levelling up funding to a project in his own constituency. The Prime Minister’s Richmond constituency in Yorkshire has been awarded the money in order to help regenerate the town centre of Catterick Garrison. The Government today announced the allocation of almost £2.1billion in new levelling up funding to dozens of projects across the country but critics have questioned the way in which the money has been spent amid accusations of "favouritisim".
