Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is facing criticism from trans advocate Shivani Dave and others for his recent comments in the House of Commons. During a heated debate with opposition leader Keir Starmer, Sunak made a remark that some have deemed transphobic. While some argue that the law or policy shouldn't change based on one person's hurt feelings, others believe that Sunak's timing was poor and showed a lack of judgment. Dave asserts that the Prime Minister has a long history of making unfounded and unserious comments about trans people, using them as a distraction from his failing policies. Rishi Sunak has refused to apologise to Brianna Ghey’s father and said it is “sad and wrong” to link his transgender joke at Prime Minister’s Questions to the murdered teenager’s case. Brianna’s father, Peter Spooner, said Mr Sunak should say sorry for the “degrading” and “dehumanising” remark made in the Commons. Mr Sunak had accused Sir Keir Starmer of having difficulty in “defining a woman” during an attack on Labour Party U-turns.
