Storm Barra: 'Worst storm in 15 years' leaves thousands STILL without power

Storm Barra: THOUSANDS of people in the north of England are STILL without power after being hit by 'worst storm in over 15-years' as government calls in the army and ministers label situation 'unacceptable'. Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng labelled the situation 'simply unacceptable' as the government did what it says, was all it could, to resolve the problems for homes and businesses in the north. Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Greg Hands, updated the House of Commons this afternoon, confirming 99-per-cent of homes had now been returned to the grid, while the government has extended it's compensation. Almost all of the UK will be hit by yellow weather warnings tomorrow as Storm Barra batters the country with 70mph winds and a five-day deep freeze sets in. Forecasters have alerted Brits to brace for up to seven inches of snow and powerful winds as the storm arrives tomorrow.
