Two Israeli hostages rescued after bombing of Rafah

Israel has rescued two hostages from Gaza after pulling off a daring night raid as more than 100 people were killed during overnight airstrikes on Rafah. Louis Norberto Har, 70, and Fernando Marman, 60, were found in a second-floor apartment in Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza. Three guards were killed when members of Israel’s elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit stormed the apartment block at 2am, using explosives to break down the flat’s door. Israeli soldiers battled their way out the building and shielded the two men with their bulletproof armour as a heavy firefight broke out. The pair, who are dual Argentine-Israeli citizens, were taken from Nir Oz on October 7, a kibbutz just over a mile from the border.
