Ukrainian officials resign in Zelensky corruption purge

Eleven senior Ukrainian officials resigned or were fired within a few hours after President Zelensky vowed to purge his government of corruption. Zelensky told Ukrainians at the weekend that corruption would be rooted out. So far, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of of Ukraine’s presidential office, Vyacheslav Shapovalov, a deputy defence minister, and Ivan Lukerya, a deputy minister for infrastructure, have all resigned. Governors of the Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kherson, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions were also fired by Zelensky.
