Tory Party Chairman Nadhim Zahawi has attempted to defuse the situation on his tax affairs - by admitting that he paid a reported seven-figure sum to HMRC to cover capital gains tax. He said his father took founder shares in YouGov and that HMRC later "disagreed about the exact allocation", leading him to "settle the matter and pay what they said was due".
