DWP's second cost of living payment confusion as date still not confirmed

Millions of claimants across the UK are still confused about when the second cost of living payment will be released into their bank accounts. The cost of living payment is due to certain claimants of benefits or tax credits, such as, but not limited to, Universal Credit, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Income Support, Pension Credit and Child Tax Credit.

The money aims to help with the cost of living crisis and, if you're eligible, the money will be automatically paid in the same way the recipients would receive their benefits or tax credits. The payment arrives in two parts with the first Low-Income Cost of Living Payment of £326 paid to most eligible people in September.

However, according to Leicestershire Live, there was some discrepancy about the second payment date following reports that stated cash would be sent to people from Saturday, October 1.

The Department for Work and Pensions has recently clarified no date has been earmarked for when payments will be released. Bosses say they have not confirmed when payments will be made but they reiterated they are keen to let people know when they are able.

A spokesperson told the website: "We haven't confirmed when the second payment will be made yet. We’ll be keen to let people know clearly and widely when there is a date to announce."

Who gets the payment

You may get a payment of £650 paid in two lump sums of £326 and £324 if you get payments of any of the following:
