England star Walker jokes he'll adopt 'Dave' the cat if they win the World Cup

Kyle Walker says he’ll adopt the cat that’s become something of a celebrity in the England camp.

The Manchester City full-back appears to have made a new friend during his time at the Three Lions’ training camp in Qatar, and is keen to bring ‘Dave’ back home should football come home.

‘Dave’ has made regular appearances in the England camp over the last few weeks, with Walker and fellow City man John Stones becoming close with their four-legged companion.

Speaking on England’s ‘Lions’ Den’ show, the right-back said: “He was just there one day, so we’ve just adopted him, me and Stonesy.”

Walker then revealed that it was Stones who came up with the name, adding: “I don’t mind them, obviously, I don’t mind cats, but I don’t like to touch them.

“Dave is just welcome to the table. There’s me John, Kalvin [Phillips] and Raz [Raheem Sterling]. We do get a few guest appearances from Phil and the other lads that want to join us.

“But everyone seems to be moving away because we keep inviting the cat. Some people really don’t like the cat, but I love him, I love him.”

Walker soon made a promise with host Josh Denzel about what would happen with Dave if England went all the way in Qatar.

“I’d love to adopt him,” said Walker. “If we win the World Cup, I’ll adopt the cat if I can take him back.

“Me and John, we can share. We’ll put him in the City training ground.”

Walker made his first appearance at this year’s World Cup in England’s 3-0 win over Wales, with the City defender playing just under an hour against the Dragons.

He could be heading home with even more baggage come the end of the tournament, and Dave could become Walker’s new best friend if the Three Lions are victorious in Qatar.
