Jordan Pickford's agony as £500k engagement ring was cut from fiancée's finger

Jordan Pickford married his childhood sweetheart Megan Davison in a stunning ceremony - but it wasn't easy sailing to get there. The English goalkeeper tied the knot in front of his loved ones in a beach ceremony in the Maldives this summer.

The pair have actually been married for over two years but the Covid-19 pandemic prevented them from celebrating their special day with those closest to them. But before saying their 'I dos', the couple worked through a hectic engagement after Megan had to have her £500,000 engagement ring cut off her finger. Megan suffered with water retention during her pregnancy with baby Arlo George, causing her hand to swell up.

Before making the drastic decision to cut the flashy ring off her finger, the 26-year-old took to Instagram to see if any of her followers knew of a way to get it off without breaking it into two.

She shared how she'd already tried covering her hand in washing up liquid, butter and ice - but nothing worked.

Two hours after her desperate post, Megan returned to social media to tell her followers: "We've been to the jewellers for the chop."

She wrote: "Thanks so much everyone for the messages, I'll try and reply once I have feeling back in my fingers."

Megan and Pickford have been together since they were teenagers - and welcomed their first child in 2019.

When announcing her pregnancy, Megan wrote on Instagram: "When two hearts become three... just can't wait for the next chapter with my fiancé".

At their lavish Maldives wedding, Megan wore a white off-the-shoulder gown from Berta fashion house, while Pickford wore a white tuxedo, a cream bowtie and brown loafers.

The couple seemingly pulled out all the stops for their special day, including the hiring of a white podium and hundreds of dusty pink roses.

They tied the knot in front of a small group of loved ones overlooking an idyllic beach setting.

In a joint Instagram post, Pickford and Megan wrote: "Worth the wait for the most magical day with my soulmate. Introducing The Pickfords | 18.06.2022."

The first photo showed the pair during a romantic embrace as they shared their first kiss as bride and groom.

A second shot was taken overhead as the couple said their vows in the middle of a picturesque golden beach.

Pickford and Megan also shared a rare snap of their three-year-old son Arlo in their arms.

Their celebrity pals were quick to comment, with Vicky Pattison saying: "Oh my god, this is beyond stunning lass."

Taylor Ward commented: "Congratulations to you both."
