A new law is set to be introduced to deal with shoplifters who harm store staff, meaning that those who attack workers while committing theft could go to jail for up to six months or receive a large fine. Additionally, they may be banned from returning to the store with a Criminal Behaviour Order. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has stated that this move sends a clear message to criminals that stealing from businesses or hurting shop workers will not be tolerated.
