The two Tory candidates to replace Boris Johnson as prime minister, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss, took part in the first hustings event organised by the Conservative Party in which they will take questions from party members in Leeds. Both candidates embarked upon tours of the nation, unveiling plans to crack down violence against women and girls. Mr Sunak proposed a new “down-blousing” offence, while Ms Truss offered a law against misogynistic street harassment.
