Joe Hart: Unable to keep out Miovski’s early strike but the veteran Englishman showed all his experience with perfect positioning to be able to deny Stefan Gartenmann’s close range effort in the 41st minute. Emerged as the hero - eventually - in bizarre penalty shoot-out which saw him take one and hit the post before making decisive save from Killian Phillips. 6

Alistair Johnston: The Canadian right-back drilled a low shot just wide of the target in the 40th minute but his attacking forays were less regular than he normally enjoys. One of his forward surges came good when he cut the ball back for Matt O’Riley to score Celtic’s third in extra-time. 7

Cameron Carter-Vickers: The American international was caught on his heels when Miovski breezed past him to slot home Aberdeen’s opener. He gradually got into his groove and made several crucial interventions as Celtic’s defence was put under pressure. 6

Liam Scales: Not the most comfortable return to the side after injury for the Irish defender. Benefitted from the finest of margins when he survived a VAR penalty review for handball against him in first half stoppage time. Caught flat-footed when MacDonald headed Aberdeen’s late, late leveller. 5

Greg Taylor: The left-back was always eager to get forward and support the attack for Celtic but his runs often went unrewarded by team-mates. Not totally assured defensively and failed to spot MacDonald’s back post run for Aberdeen’s third. 6

Matt O’Riley: The Danish international has recently been less influential for Celtic than he was in the first half of the season. He looked subdued again in the first half here but made more of an attacking impact after the break before coming up with his side’s coolly taken third goal in extra-time. 7

Callum McGregor: Making his first start since his return from injury, the Celtic captain is still getting up to full speed. He flashed a shot narrowly over late in the first half. Lasted just over an hour before making way for Tomoki Iwata. 6

Reo Hatate: Like O’Riley, the Japanese playmaker was largely anonymous during the opening 45 minutes. Improved in the second half as Celtic pressed higher but was replaced by Paulo Bernardo in the 85th minute. 6

Nicolas Kuhn: Had the beating of Jack MacKenzie but bloodied his nose in an accidental clash with the full-back which looked as if it might end his afternoon prematurely. But the German winger returned to grab Celtic’s first half leveller. Replaced by Luis Palma in the 85th minute. 6

Kyogo Furuhashi: Celtic’s top scorer was rewarded for his trademark harrying of defenders when he forced the error from Angus MacDonald which led to Kuhn’s equaliser. Much less effective in the second half and was replaced by Adam Idah in the 70th minute. 6

Yang: The South Korean winger wasted a good early chance when he headed over from close range. Struggled to make the most of finding himself in some promising positions and no surprise when he made way for James Forrest just after the hour mark. 5

James Forrest: Replaced Yang in the 61st minute. Showed Yang how it should be done when he cut inside two minutes later to fire Celtic in front. 7

Tomoki Iwata: Kept things simple in the middle of the park after replacing McGregor in the 61st minute. Neat finish in penalty shoot-out. 6

Adam Idah: Irish striker came on for Kyogo in the 70th minute and was denied a winner by MacKenzie’s brave block. Coolly converted first penalty of shoot-out. 6

Luis Palma: Replaced Kuhn in the 85th minute and sent a close range header just wide in stoppage time. Scored in shoot-out. 5

Paulo Bernardo: Portuguese midfielder showed some nice touches after replacing Hatate in the 85th minute. Relieved to see his penalty squeeze beyond Roos in shoot-out. 5

Maik Nawrocki: Replaced Forrest to shore up defence in 118th minute but move backfired when MacDonald made it 3-3. 1
