Masked Singer viewers convinced doughnuts is football legend Michael Owen

Everyone's favourite ITV show is back with a bang - The Masked Singer has officially returned to our screens.

This surreal mystery singing competition is sure to wash away the January blues as a line up of hidden celebs take to the stage to show off their singing abilities.

The show is hugely popular, and fans love to discuss their predictions of the identities of each singer on social media.

Tonight, Doughnuts took to the stage singing Sweet Caroline - fans were full of guesses as to this sweet treat's identity.

"Doughnuts is Micheal Owen no doubt #TheMaskedSinger," one Twitter user said.

"My word some of those guesses for Doughnut. The Argentina reference, itself, gives it away. Its Michael Owen ffs. #TheMaskedSingerUK," another said.

" #MaskedSinger defo Michael Owen, Argentina is ref to that wonder goal he scored."

One viewer wasn't so certain: "Either Michael Owen, Matt lucas, Paul Hollywood, one of the hairy bikers (idk) or ant #TheMaskedSinger "

The judges had a number of interesting guesses for Doughnuts tonight - Davina McCall suggested Robbie Fowler may be behind the mask.
