Who is Carole Baskin and is her ex-husband still missing

The internet has been buzzing since Wednesday as rumours sparked that Tiger King’s star Carole Baskin’s missing ex-husband is still alive. Netflix’s Tiger King was first released nearly three years ago, however fans of the show are as obsessed with its insanity today as they were in 2020.

For those that may need a refresher, Carole Baskin is Joe Exotic’s number one enemy. Exotic, who’s currently serving 22 years after hiring a hitman to kill Baskin, claims Carole killed her ex-husband Don Lewis.

He even released a viral song with a theory that Carole fed Don to her Tigers at the Big Cat Rescue.

Don's disappearance was a massive talking point in the docuseries, where fans began to make their own conspiracies and conjure up different theories as to what happened to Don.

There is no evidence Lewis was murdered, no arrests or charges were made, and Big Cat Rescue boss Carole wasn't named as a suspect and has always denied any involvement in his disappearance.

Lewis disappeared from his home in Florida in the summer of 1997, after leaving at 6am for an early morning delivery and was never seen again. Don was declared legally dead five years later in 2002.

However, fans seem to only be finding out now that back in November 2021, Carole claimed on ITV’s This Morning that her ex is in fact not dead, but living his best life in Costa Rica.

On the show, Carole said: "I'll tell you what, one of the really exciting things that came out of Tiger King 2 is that they produced a letter from Homeland Security and it says that a special agent in charge with the FBI reached out to the Sheriff's Detective.

"Which means this had to have happened after 2002 because Homeland Security wasn't even around until 2002, and they said that my husband Don Lewis is alive and well in Costa Rica,” she claims.

"And yet all of this hate has been made about me having something to do with his appearance when Homeland Security has known where he is since at least back then.”

Responding to the theory that Don’s children from his first marriage seem to think she fed their dad to tigers, Carole said "I think maybe they should check with Homeland Security who seems to know where he is."

It is currently still unclear whether or not Don is alive and Carole’s claims currently remain “unproven.” The Department of Homeland Security has not yet responded to the resurfaced claims.

Don Lewis who was 59 years old when he went missing, would be 84 today if he is still alive.
