Wonderful snaps when crowds lined High Street for St George's Day Parade
A Watford Observer photographer captured these wonderful images on April 28, 1962 in Watford High Street as members of the Scout movement from across the area filed past while a service was also held in the Town Hall.
St George is the patron saint of Scouts and every year this is celebrated, traditionally with a parade and faith service.
• Rare snaps unearthed of when first pints were pulled at popular pub
These pictures from our archive also serve as a reminder of how the ‘top’ end of High Street looked in the early 1960s, before the town was changed forever by the construction of the ring road.
Were you one of the children taking part in the parade that day or watching from the side of the road? Or perhaps you can spot a relative or friend who was involved?
