Michael Gove has suggested Liz Truss and the Government are "betting too much on tax cuts" funded through borrowing as he called for the decision to scrap the 45p top rate of income tax to be reversed. The former Cabinet minister said that "my concern is the scale of that borrowing" which is being used to pay for the tax cuts. Speaking at a Chopper's Politics podcast event hosted by The Telegraph at Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, Mr Gove said that he was worried the Government was "betting too much on tax cuts when we are borrowing to pay for them" and "that is not Conservative in my view".
