Frimpong trolls Xhaka about Arsenal during Bundesliga celebrations

Granit Xhaka was the subject of a cheeky dig from his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong during their Bundesliga title celebrations. The Swiss midfielder, who left Arsenal last summer, played a pivotal role in helping Leverkusen clinch their first-ever Bundesliga crown with a resounding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen.

Leverkusen's historic triumph came with five matches to spare, marking their first major silverware since 1993 and breaking Bayern Munich's 12-year dominance in Germany. Xabi Alonso's squad dazzled on the day, with prodigy Florian Wirtz bagging his inaugural professional hat-trick, Victor Boniface converting a penalty, and Xhaka hammering in a stunning 25-yard goal to cap off the win.

Since his move from the Gunners, Xhaka has been instrumental in Leverkusen's success, securing his first league title since his days at FC Basel in 2012.

Manchester United and Liverpool-linked Frimpong couldn't resist highlighting this achievement, as he wrapped an arm around Xhaka in the dressing room on an Instagram live saying: "You came from Arsenal and you won it here."

Frimpong's jibe came during a time when Arsenal lost their top spot in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at home on Sunday. Meanwhile, Leverkusen were celebrating just as Mikel Arteta's team were left disappointed at the Emirates Stadium.

The 31-year-old made a total of 297 appearances for the Gunners before moving to Germany in a deal worth £21.5million. Since his transfer, Xhaka has started every league game and picked up the league title in his debut season - an honour which has evaded Arsenal since 2003.

During his time in North London, Xhaka won two FA Cups and as many Community Shield winners' medals. Leverkusen have a two-goal lead over West Ham going into their Europa League quarter-final second leg and will face second-tier Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal next month as they remain on course for a famous treble.
