Viewers tell Holly Willoughby to 'get a grip' as she sobs on Freeze The Fear

Freeze The Fear presenter Holly Willoughby broke down in tears on Tuesday night in the BBC ice survival series' final episode as contestant Tamzin Outhwaite injured herself.

Tamzin smashed her head into the ice and had to be carried away with the help of two others as she attempted a dangerous challenge.

The slip and injury came minutes after host Holly Willoughby, alongside survivalist Wim Hof, warned viewers 'do not try this at home' (because we all have a frozen lake on our doorstep, right?).

And Tamzin Outhwaite immediately became a victim to the ice challenge as she submerged herself into the freezing waters, slipped, and smashed her head on solid ice as she tried to surface.

As Tamzin was helped away, Holly couldn't control her emotions and turned her back to the camera as she began to sob.

Contestant Lee Mack then wrapped his arm around her to console her as Holly mumbled through the tears 'no because they've gotta still do it.'

"You've just got to be so careful," she whimpered.

Regaining her composure, she then warned the other celebs: "Guys just be really careful cos you saw what happened there like don't overshoot it, okay?"

In tonight's final episode of the series, contestants are being asked to complete an underwater swimming trial - which is what caught Tamzin out - as well as jump from a 500ft high bridge.

Other contestants including Professor Green, Diane Buswell and Gabby Logan have all been put through their paces and a lot of viewers are hopeful for a series two.

Tamzin Outhwaite told viewers moments after being checked over: "I was actually looking forward to it, I was pretty calm. I got in, I thought 'I've got this', I found the rope quite easily. I started to see a bit of light and as I came up I pushed with my feet and I smacked my head on the side of the ice.

"I haven't looked in the mirror yet [at the bump] because I don't want to scare myself."

Viewers on Twitter were predictably sympathetic to both Tamzin and Holly's emotional plight.

Of course, one of the reasons for the show is to raise awareness of mental health issues, so the response to Holly's feelings suggests there might be good reason to commission a series two.
