President Joe Biden has said that the US and its allies will “not be intimidated” by the words or threats of Russian President Vladimir Putin and underscored that the US will never recognise the Ukranian territories declared by Moscow. Biden's words followed Putin's announcement that Russia is incorporating four Ukrainian cities and areas following "referendums" this week, which the West has denounced as shams. The US and its allies hit back at Russia's annexation of the regions, slapping sanctions on more than 1,000 people and companies including arms supply networks as Moscow and the West escalated an already heated conflict fraught with potential nuclear implications.
