Rishi Sunak arrives at Tory leadership hustings
Tory leadership candidate Rishi Sunak arrived at the hustings in Darlington with applause. The ex-chancellor made a joke about finally being able to sleep in his own bed during the debate in his hometown. Sunak resigned last month over the Pincher scandal. The Tory leadership contender defended his decision to quit as chancellor last month — just minutes after health secretary Sajid Javid resigned. Mr Sunak said: “I was sad I had to resign actually. I was sad I resigned.
