Gordon Ramsay ripped into a red-faced Red Bull mechanic after he pulled out a questionable garage snack. The celebrity chef was a VIP guest at Silverstone on Saturday to watch the qualifying action.

The 55-year-old was given a prime spot at the back of the Red bull garage after being invited along to the race by the team. But before the drivers were even on the track, he couldn't help but give an X-rated verdict over a Red Bull team member's garage grub, the Mirror reports.

The Kitchen Nightmare's star has a well-earned reputation for critiquing other people's food, and he didn't hold back when he spotted the mechanic chomping down on what looked like a small Shepherd's pie. Eating the minced meat and potato dish straight out the tinfoil casing, the team member was shot a disgusted look from Ramsay who asked "What the f**k is that?".

His comment left other Red Bull team members in the vicinity roaring with laughter. "Two-thirds potato and no meat. F**king hell, honestly," the chef added as he smirked at the mechanic, whose face was growing redder all the time.

He cheekily asked Ramsay if he would like to try some, before the response came: "No, I'm all good for now, thank you." The mood in the garage may have been less jovial later on, as Max Verstappen was denied pole position by Carlos Sainz.

The Dutchman never had the chance to overtake the Spaniard with his final flying lap, as he had to slow down for yellow flags after a spin from Charles Leclerc.

Red Bull chief Christian Horner blamed the lack of a pole position on that incident, telling Sky Sports F1: "Charles had what looked like a half-spin, Max lifted for the yellow flag and I think gave up about three or four tenths for it.

"But congratulations to Carlos – he has always been a demon in the wet since he was a junior for us, he was always very strong in these conditions. Congratulations to him, and we're just pleased to be up there on the front row with Checo on the second row as well

"We were unfortunate with the yellow flag – one of those things – but it's going to make an interesting race. I think everybody had a long run [in practice] of about four laps, so it's a bit of an unknown. But with Checo in there as well, there are so many dynamics to it."
